R must be installed to use the rpy2 package.
On Linux (32-bit), Linux (64-bit):-
rpy2 of all versions do not work with Ubuntu's own R package. See #44070. A workaround is to roll your own R under /usr/local and then symlink /usr/local/lib64/R to the canonical (pun intended) place.
