How to install backuppy

  1. Download and install ActivePython
  2. Open Command Prompt
  3. Type pypm install backuppy

## backuppy

#### Quick Overview

This backuppy python library allows you to copy files specified in a yaml configuration file to a remote location.

supported remotes location types:

  • rackspace
  • amazon s3
  • scp with public key

operations: * packaging/compression with: tar, tgz, bz2, zip

other: * plain copying of files (experimental) * ignore specified files and directories * specify expiration time for local temporary and remote files

#### Installation

  1. pip install backuppy

#### Configuration

  1. Setup location for backuppy temporary files, yaml config files, logs.

    (Check out the simple bash script: [scripts/backuppy_setup_dirs.sh](https://github.com/rpq/backuppy/blob/master/scripts/backuppy_setup_dirs.sh)

  2. Setup your configuration file(s) for backuppy. Below are annotated templates:

    System Message: ERROR/3 (<string>, line 33)

    Unexpected indentation.

#### Usage

` usage: backup.py [-h] -c CONFIG_FILE [-v VERBOSITY] `

#### Some Misc. Notes

  • amazon s3 and rackspace cloudfiles will not create 'files' for empty

#### Todo: * encryption * ssh with username/password auth * scp is slow for multiple files since it copies the files one by one * allow stop at step prior to sending to remote * allow minutes, hours, days as input for expiration fields (currently input is seconds only)
