abused

abused is an utility module for some of us wanting to abuse the Python package ecosystem (distutils) by creating distributions with arbitrary files. For instance, "libxml2" can be one package that contains the necessary .dll/.so/.lib/.a/.h files for libxml2 only.

Getting Started
  1. Install 'abused': pip install --upgrade -e git://github.com/srid/abused.git#egg=abused

  2. Copy setup_sample.py to your package's setup.py and modify it.

  3. Test your install:

    $ python setup.py install --root=./tmp/image && tree tmp/image

Features
  • Simplified API facade around distutils cmdclass
  • Build under MSVC shell
