The Tcl Core Team is pleased to announce that the following

and resulted in Tcl 8.4 being the fastest Tcl release ever;
Whereas, he has shown mature technical judgment in advising
the TCT on pending Tcl Improvement Proposals;
Whereas, he has exhibited exemplary diligence in maintaining
the quality of Tcl implementation;
Therefore, be it

------------------------------------------------------------------------
The invitation was conveyed to Miguel, and his reply was:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am honored by the invitation to join the TCT. It is with great
pleasure that I accept it.
Sharing the responsibility to steer Tcl future with colleagues of your
standing fills me with pride. I'll take to heart my new reponsibilities;
this implies among other things that I'll have to familiarise myself
with Tk, having had a pure Tcl life until now.
I hope I'll be able to keep contributing to this lovely language's
evolution to your and, especially, our wonderful community's
satisfaction. I certainly will do my best.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I ask the Tcl community to welcome Miguel Sofer as the newest
member of the Tcl Core Team.
