Phone Apps Development with Ruby

Hello everyone!,

I am new with Ruby, and I was trying to developing an phone application
in RhoMobile using Ruby. The thing is that i want to create a method to
get into  a database and find an item and put some data on the screen,
if the item is not there get pop up or something that advice me.
If there someone who know how can I create this method or make a search,
please give me some tips I will appreciate!!
